Ewa Romaszewicz has lived in the United States since the age of six. She graduated from Brown University, obtaining a Bachelor of Arts in Visual Art and a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry. She went on to earn her Master of Fine Arts in painting at Indiana University where she taught Color Theory and Design as well as a chemistry laboratory course. Before fully dedicating herself to her art career, Ewa worked in the pharmaceutical industry as a protein chemist.

Ewa has received several academic awards, most notably a Fulbright grant, which enabled her to pursue her painting in Switzerland. She has exhibited nationally and internationally. Her work has been reviewed on the front page of the culture section of Le Nouvelliste, the principal newspaper of the Valais region of Switzerland. She is fluent in Polish, French and English and is proficient in Spanish.

Ewa has taught Two-Dimensional Design in the Continuing Education department at the Rhode Island School of Design. She currently teaches in the Art Department at the University of Rhode Island and in the Art Department at the Community College of Rhode Island. She also teaches private painting workshops. Ewa teaches painting, drawing, two-dimensional design and color.

Ewa's paintings have been on loan at the Providence Marriott and at United Natural Foods Incorporated among other Providence locations. Her work was on exhibit at the residence of the former and current presidents of the University of Rhode Island, Dr. David M. Dooley and Marc Parlange.

Artist Statement

I create atmospheric landscapes that blur the line between observation and intuition. Working in layered color and abstracted form, I explore themes of impermanence, solitude and transition. My paintings invite viewers into quiet, often liminal spaces - thresholds between the natural and the imagined.
