“I often sit and study the interesting rocks that characterize areas of the New England shoreline, as well as the water. I enjoy stillness in nature, solitude, and the chance to simply study and contemplate. My subject is often the water and beach stones because my eye travels over nature's patterns in a similar way, stopping for a moment, but drawn away again over the surface — especially the water, as it’s constantly changing. A wave is only there for an instant. In the water works, I want to convey the sensation of water, light and motion. I want to depict a time of day, a sensation, a fleeting moment.
“I spend as much time as I can where I grew up, on the shore on West Island, Fairhaven, MA — which provides much of the inspiration for my work. We live in Seekonk with our boys, four cats and one sweet dog. My work is in collections around the country and overseas. I’m represented at Maine Art Hill, Kennebunk, ME, and Rogers Gallery and Surroundings, Mattapoisett, MA. Received my BFA from UMASS Amherst, and MFA from University at Albany, SUNY. I also studied at the Museum School, Boston, and the Academie Brugge, Belgium.”
